Milton Keynes College Prison Services Team at HMP Whitemoor are seeking an innovative Teacher/Tutor to deliver to a diverse group of learners, helping to build their confidence, develop their skills and achieve within a college environment. This is an exciting opportunity where you will be actively engaging prison-based learners with creative classes and resources. Many of the learners have a diverse range of needs and learning abilities, they will often have had a negative experience with education. As a successful teacher, you will truly inspire them and provide learners with a positive learning experience.

We are seeking an individual who can communicate well with learners to inspire and motivate them. The average class consist of 10 learners and the sessions are approximately 3 hours long. You must be able to work flexibly to meet the needs of a changing regime.

HMP Whitemoor are currently looking for individuals with subject specific knowledge or experience to deliver in one or more of the below areas to help shape their new curriculum (not exhaustive):

  • FS English
  • FS Maths
  • ESOL
  • Art
  • Graphic Design
  • Mentoring
  • Food safety
  • Cleaning principles
  • Catering 
  • Humanities
  • ICT
  • Employability and Personal and Social Development 

A teaching qualification would be desirable, however those willing to work towards a teaching qualification who hold supporting subject specialism or industry experience would also be considered - we can provide the training to help you achieve your full potential.
