About Stanmore College
Stanmore College is a small college that changed from being a tertiary college in 2006 to a general further education
College more recently with the introduction of sixth forms to local high schools. Since then the number of students on A-level programmes has fallen and the number on vocational programmes at levels 2 and 3 has risen considerably. There are a small number of 16-18 year olds on level 1 programmes. The borough has a highly diverse and rapidly-changing population, with residents born in approximately 203 different countries, and is the seventh most ethnically diverse borough in the country. The college’s student population reflects this diversity. The proportion of school leavers achieving five GCSEs at grades A* to C,
including English and mathematics, is above the national average. Adult learners study mainly maths and English, employability courses or professional upskilling in beauty, childcare, accounting and care. Foundation degrees and a BA Hons is offered in partnership with the University of West London.
A large majority of students attend the main college site in Stanmore in the London Borough of Harrow, with some part-time students attending a small site in nearby Kenton.
