Mandeep, a trained chartered accountant, is currently the new Principal at the NewVIc College and has a record of raising educational standards and improving Ofsted inspection grades in colleges.
He said: “Having lived in east London, I am very proud to be returning to the area to join NewVIc.

Student Safeguarding and Welfare Advisor
Studied Psychology, Sociology, Environmental Science & World Development at NewVIc and then Human Rights with Photography at Roehampton University.“I've been here now for a few years, starting as an Academic Learning Mentor and now as a welfare adviser. My role is to ensure students’ wellbeing is maintained throughout their college experience despite hardships they may face. I act as a point of referral and work one-to-one with students and offer support on issues such as financial concerns, homelessness, relationships, mediation, mental health, substance
misuse, emotional concerns, and social services.”
Programme Team Manager for Engineering & Construction
Studied at University College Cork (French & Italian), Institute of Technology Carlow (Electronic Engineering) and University of Greenwich (PGCE) and has been teaching for six years.
“Students can expect a practical approach to learning about both engineering and construction. They will have the opportunity to go on work experience and site visits to a variety of local and national companies. With high achievement rates across the programme, students can expect to progress to a range of universities and apprenticeships.”
Teacher of Built Environment and Mechanical Engineering
Kenneth studied a Diploma in Quantity Surveying at Malawi Polytechnic, BSc in Construction Economics at University of Port Elizabeth in South Africa, a BSc Honours in Quantity Surveying, MSc in Built Environment at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and a PGCE DTLLS (Diploma of Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector) at the University of Greenwich in London. He has been teaching at NewVIc for six years.
"I encourage all students aspiring to be Architects, Civil Engineers, Quantity Surveyors and Construction Project Managers to make NewVIc their stepping stone. Students have progressed to University and apprenticeship schemes in different organisations including Transport for London."
Teacher of Film and Media Studies
Lisa studied at the University of Buckingham, Warwick University, Middlesex University, University College London (PhD) and has been teaching for 25 years.
"Students gain a tremendous range of knowledge and skills by studying film and media, preparing them for further studies and for the world of work. These subjects offer students film and media literacy to understand wider social developments, whilst building their analytical, written and team collaboration skills. Students have progressed to various theory or production-based courses at Queen Mary University of London, Ravensbourne, Middlesex University and Bournemouth Film School."
Safeguarding & Welfare Officer
Rebecca has been working at the College since October - she says:
"As one of the college’s safeguarding and welfare officers, my role is to support students with any concerns or situations regarding safety and wellbeing, to help you keep on track with your studies. The service we provide is practical, with the aim of supporting all students’ needs in any way we can. We are a dedicated team here to help all students. There are no issues too big or too small."
