Richmond Adult and Community College and Hillcroft College have announced their intentions to merge, it is proposed that the merger will take effect from midnight on the 30th September 2017.

This merger offers an exciting opportunity to combine the expertise of the two colleges in providing an outstanding range of innovative courses and learner support services. It provides a platform from which we can grow and flourish. It enables the colleges to become financially sustainable and thus better able to protect and develop provision to meet the needs of our learner groups. The colleges will retain their distinctive appeal and protect the nature of the curriculum offers.

The merger is a natural progression from the existing federation agreement between the two colleges and will build on the relationships and joint working already in place.

Please be advised that successful applicants who start employment prior to the merger date will have their employment transferred to the merged institution to be renamed Richmond and Hillcroft Adult and Community College from the midnight on the 30th September. Any successful applicants who start employment after the proposed merger date will commence employment directly with merged College.

Hillcroft is a vibrant and innovative national residential college for women aged 19 plus, with no upper age limit.

Established in 1920, the College’s mission remains relevant today – adapting its programmes to meet the needs of women in the current social, economic and political environment. The College has an excellent record of supporting women to change their lives through education. It helps women to realise their potential and to progress to higher education and further training. It was judged as Good by OFSTED in 2014 who commented in particular that ‘support for students is excellent’

The College is situated in a peaceful setting with 3 acres of grounds which are only 5 minutes from Surbiton station, from where there are fast trains to London, Surrey, Sussex and Hampshire. The main building is a fine Victorian mansion which retains many of its original features. There are fifty study bedrooms, twenty of which are located in a newer residential block, known as Powell House, within the grounds.
