Financial health grades and FEC benchmarks: An AoC Governance masterclass

This session is the fourth in a series of seven governance finance masterclasses, designed to give college governors a solid understanding of the complex nature of college finances. This session will look at the ESFA’s financial health indicators, why the FEC benchmarks are different, why financial health scores are important and factors which are likely to damage these grades.

These sessions have been created and will be led by Andrew Tyley, a leading expert in further education funding and a Deputy Further Education Commissioner.

  • 21 January – Curriculum planning
  • 28 January – Managing pay

All sessions will include interactive presentations, small discussion groups and Q&A.

More about Andrew

Andrew Tyley was appointed Deputy Further Education Commissioner in September 2016.

He is a CIPFA qualified accountant with lots of experience in the FE sector and a particular specialism in college finance. He has also worked on a range of high profile college recovery plans prior to taking up his post.

Andrew’s previous roles include:

  • Finance Director and College Principal at Walford & North Shropshire College
  • Finance Director at Harper Adams University
  • FE and Company Secretary for the Adult Learning Inspectorate
  • Management Consultant for Price Waterhouse
