We are bringing the author of Head, Hand and Heart, David Goodhart, together with leaders from the world of vocational and technical education to discuss key themes from the book and what the future of post 16 education could look like.
In his recent TES blog Alun Francis, Oldham College Principal and Chief Executive, argued the book was both timely and important. He says that given the events of the past few weeks, its arrival could not be more welcome for those who want an education and skills system that is genuinely more responsive to everyone’s needs.
Head, Hand and Heart explores how cognitive skills came to acquire the position they have. This is a hard challenge to accept for those who assume that individual merit and social progress are intimately tied up with the acquisition of knowledge and high-level skills.
