Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) is a complex autism spectrum condition which is characterised by very high anxiety and need to control. Strategies that may be helpful for students with autism are not effective for those with PDA who require a far more flexible and non-direct approach.
This training on PDA will give college staff a better understanding of PDA, the anxiety that drives and most importantly a “toolkit” of strategies that may be helpful when teaching or supporting students with this complex condition.
