Employability Mentor

Part Time 22.5 hours per week (work pattern to be agreed)

Working hours; Monday – Thursday - 8:30am – 5:00pm and Fridays 8:30am – 4:30pm

Term Time Only 40 weeks

Starting Salary £13,988 per annum – salary pro rata from £25,433. Salary progression after 6 month probation

Based at the Welwyn Garden City Campus with some travel in and around the Hertfordshire region required.

This is a part time, term time only contract - when the students are on holiday, so are you! You will be paid each month even though you will only be required to work 40 weeks per year.

We are looking for a student focused Employability Mentor who will ensure that students have access to work experience and industry placements, employability and personal development guidance to support their achievement and future progression. Providing information, advice and guidance that encourages students to make informed choices and understand what they need to do in order to reach and succeed in their chosen career.

The successful applicant will engage with employers to source work and industry placements, whilst undertaking one to one and group sessions with students. This is coupled with meaningful and relevant opportunities to develop their knowledge, skills and attributes needed to make successful choices in order to reach their goals and aspirations.

You will liaise with curriculum areas and engage with a wide range of employers, to support the careers, information advice and guidance strategy.

To be considered for the role you need to demonstrate you hold the following;

  • Good standard of education. Minimum requirement Level 2 ICT, English and Mathematics
  • Experience of working with young people and/or employers
