HSDC is looking for a Student Adviser primarily based at our Alton campus to help coordinate College welfare activity to maximise attendance, retention and achievement of all students, including those facing barriers to learning. The successful candidate will have responsibility for providing effective health and welfare support, triage service and pastoral support. Creating and implementing student support plans to ensure students are able to access appropriate internal and external support services is another important part of the role. Safeguarding young people is paramount and you will be expected to promote good practice in safeguarding as an active member of the safeguarding panel. You will have excellent organisation and communication skills in order to maintain your own caseload.
This is an exciting opportunity for you to play a key part in the student journey by promoting student resilience and independence through a range of planned support activities, including raising awareness of local and national health and wellbeing priorities and issues. This role will require liaison with students, specialist colleagues, welfare agencies and other stakeholders as appropriate.
Ideally applicants must have one of the following qualifications or good experience of - Nursing or Public Health or Health & Wellbeing and must have (or be willing to obtain) First Aid and Designated Safeguarding Lead qualifications. Experience of working in a 16-19 education environment would also be an advantage.
This role will be primarily based at our Alton campus and will require flexibility to support our South Downs and Havant campuses if & when required.
