Lecturer - Performing Arts and Production

Within our Creative Arts team based in Trowbridge we have a vacancy for a Lecturer in Performing & Production Arts. The role is full time (37 hours), but we would also consider applicants looking for a new position on a permanent part-time, job share basis.  This role will start in August to be ready for next academic year.

You will be responsible for delivering outstanding teaching, learning and assessment on our UAL L1, L2 and L3 Performing Arts Diploma courses with skills and experience in any or all the following specialisms – acting, singing, and dancing. It is a great time to join our Grade 1 Creative Arts department working with a high-performing team in industry standard facilities.

About the role

Acting as Course Lead with tutor responsibilities, you will prepare schemes of work, lesson and assessment plans, and contribute with active enthusiasm to the wider enrichment of students, including the production of performances and shows in our professional theatre.  This will also include supporting pastoral needs, participating in parents and open evenings, working with the community on live projects, organising study trips and where relevant, supporting UCAS applications.

Enabling learners to maximise their potential, you will ensure your resource materials and teaching reflect best practice contributing to the quality of provision as measured by retention, attendance, success rates, progression, final grades, and value added.

About you

With a degree and background in Performing Arts the successful candidate will hold a relevant qualification and have substantial, practical, experience in the Performing Arts industry.

You will also have teaching and lecturing experience in a post-16 environment and hold a teaching qualification or be willing to work towards one.  You will ideally be experienced in working on or leading Performing Arts programmes, and alongside your experience and skills, you will also be a practitioner who is passionate about their craft.

With an enthusiastic, motivated and engaging approach you will have the theoretical and practical skills to energise students and support them to realise their goals. We are interested in hearing from individuals who are effective team players, keen to build relationships that will enrich the student experience, participate in building networks for work placements, and have the desire to work collaboratively with the immediate and wider team and community.
