An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time lecturer to join the successful English team within the 16-18 Study Programme faculty to cover a maternity leave. The role requires teaching GCSE and Functional Skills L2 English to students who are either re-taking their GCSE or are further developing their skills by studying for their FS L2 qualification. The role requires a motivated and passionate teacher who is able to build positive relationships with their students from the outset. Many students start the programme of study feeling deflated because they feel that they haven’t been successful in their English studies thus far. You could be the teacher that helps to change that!

The role is currently timetabled to be on four full days with Wednesday scheduled as the day you will not be required. The days begin at 8:30am and finish at 17:00pm Monday – Thursday and at 16:30pm on Friday. There are breaks between lessons and lunch is between 12:30 and 13:30pm.

The English Team are a skilled team of practitioners with high expectations for student outcomes and are looking for someone who will strive to maintain outstanding success rates using innovation within teaching and assessing, utilising e-learning opportunities where appropriate. The team are highly organised, work collaboratively to plan, create engaging lesson resources and share best practice. Regular assessment of student work and accurate feedback is an expected element to support students in their progress.

Support for aspiring lecturers would be through our license to teach programme and our award-winning Teaching Skills Academy. The successful candidate would ideally have a teaching qualification, relevant experience and a passion for inclusivity but if you think you have what it takes but you do not have a teaching qualification for an exceptional candidate we can offer excellent teacher training and support you in achieving your Level 3 Award in Education & Training (AET).

Abingdon & Witney College also offer excellent benefits including generous pension and holiday schemes, flexible working options, corporate gym membership and cycle/tech schemes.

Let me know if you have any questions. You can e-mail me: Elaine Day Curriculum Manager for 16-18 English and Maths at elaine.day@abingdon-witney.ac.uk

Closing date: 12th May 2021 (midnight)

Interview date: 25th May 2021
