Employability Tutors (casual contract)

Activate learning is currently recruiting for enthusiastic and creative teachers to join our adult employability provision within our Lifeskills faculty. This post provides an excellent opportunity for multi-skilled individuals who may have taught previously within a similar environment or has excellent industry experience and can deliver purposeful lessons to a diverse range of learners.  

The courses are design to work in collaboration with the projects team supporting the unemployment across the Thames Valley and we have a variety of short-term courses to offer, such as, CV writing, basic IT, customer services, building confidence and mental health and wellbeing.  

We are looking for tutors that have extensive knowledge of the subject area to encourage our students to pursue their ultimate educational desire in becoming successful within their chosen subject.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

You will have the ability to demonstrate passion, empathy, confidence and can engage and interact with people of all age groups. You will have a minimum level 2 qualification in Maths and English and ideally hold a teacher’s qualifications or training experience.  Whilst we would prefer applications from qualified teachers who hold a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification, we would consider applications from unqualified applicants, with the ability to inspire our learners and a willingness to complete a teaching qualification.

In addition, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will demonstrate the ability to engage and develop students and role model the attributes that we develop within our learners.

You will be joining an established and supportive team within our Lifeskills faculty on a casual contract basis. Our positions offer a variety of flexible working patterns such as, daytime, evenings, weekends and working remotely, depending on scheduled timetable.
