Assistant Accountant (Fixed Term Opportunity)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Group Finance team, as an Assistant Accountant.

This position is well suited to an enthusiastic, proactive and organised individual, who wants to advance their finance career by gaining valuable experience in both technical and balance sheet accounting. The role also includes a compliance aspect, which gives the opportunity to gain insight into the "bigger picture", through supporting in the co-ordination of year end audit and compliance activities across the whole of the Group Finance team.

This is a one-year fixed term role (to provide maternity cover), on a full time (37 hours) basis.

What does the role entail?

As an Assistant Accountant, you will be based within the Financial Accounting and Compliance team and your three key areas of activity will be Fixed Assets, VAT, and supporting the co-ordination of the year end audit process.

With further details provided in the job description, your key responsibilities will be:

  • To maintain the Asset Register for all fixed assets belonging to the LTE Group.
  • To monitor capital spend, funding & spending of deferred capital grants & revaluation reserves movements.
  • To produce asset reports in support of the monthly management accounts, inputting depreciation, capital grants additions and disposals and ensuring a full month reconciliation is performed.
  • To produce reports in support of the in-year re-forecasts & year-end final accounts.
  • To produce the 3 year Forecast for depreciation, release of capital grants & revaluation reserves in accordance with Group's strategic objectives.
  • To work with the Financial Accountant and the wider Financial Accounting team, supporting the VAT monitoring and preparation of returns, banking, cashflow and reconciliation processes each month.
  • To assist the Senior Financial Accountant with the year end audit and the production of the annual Group financial statements.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual who is:

  • Working towards full membership of the Association of Accounting Technicians

And has:

  • Level 2 English and Maths
  • Strong communication skills
  • The ability to work on own initiative
  • The ability to prioritise and to work and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • The ability to foster a culture of teamwork
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in an accounting role in a similar sized organisation
