Lecturer in Electrical Engineering

City of Portsmouth College has been formed by the merger of Portsmouth College and Highbury College and was formally constituted on 1 August 2021.  

The newly formed College will give students of all ages even greater flexibility with their programmes and access to dedicated subject facilities at the different campus locations. The joint organisation will also expand a uniquely flexible curriculum offer within the city of Portsmouth, comprising A Levels, vocational diplomas, apprenticeships and higher education qualifications.

Over the coming academic year, Portsmouth College and Highbury College will retain their individual identities and will be unveiling the new City of Portsmouth College brand in September 2022. Candidates wishing to apply for vacancies should continue to do so via the relevant college website.


Job Title:        Lecturer in Electrical Engineering

Duration:       Permanent

Salary:            £29,857 - £33,596 (Depending on Qualifications and Experience)

Hours:            35 hours per week

You will need to be able to transfer your passion for Electrical Engineering to a group of learners to national standards enabling them to achieve their qualifications. Set work, assess, and grade submissions in line with awarding body criteria and requirements. Own your course and look for opportunities to develop the learning experience and introduce additional learning interventions.

  • You will need to hold a degree in Electrical Engineering and industry experience
  • No teaching qualification is required but you must be willing to work towards and gain relevant teaching qualifications which will be sponsored and supported by the college.
  • Experience of teaching preferably in Electrical Engineering would be an advantage but not essential. 
  • Commitment to the development of the Engineering department
  • Be flexible and self-motivated with a dedication to student achievement and quality
