37 hours per week, 38 weeks of the year, term time only

Permanent

£21,080 - £23,173 (to be pro rata'd for term time) depending on experience

Are you passionate and driven by keeping children safe in education? Can you advise and point towards advise services on student welfare issues? Then join our welfare team who offer a vital part of the student experience. Welfare officers are key in resolving barriers to a student accessing education.

You will be required but not limited to:

  • You will provide advice and guidance to students with pastoral and welfare support needs.
  • Taking student referrals direct from students and staff throughout the college, prioritising according to need, vulnerability, and urgency of issue.
  • You will be responsible for managing safeguarding referrals and supporting students who at risk.
  • Manage a caseload of students experiencing Welfare issues through effective support, and information on other support services.

Essential criteria:  

  • NVQ3 Health and Social Care
  • Experience of delivering welfare advice in an educational, your or social service setting.
  • Experience of working with vulnerable groups in an educational, or similar, setting. Knowledge of the student fees, finance and funding. Experience of working with a range of partners and referring into their services. Current knowledge and experience of Welfare issues.
  • Strong background in welfare and safeguarding practice. The successful candidate will have experience in working in Child Protection, a multi-agency environment and experience of attending and participating in meetings.
