College First Aid Coordinator (Truro)

We are seeking to appoint a committed individual to offer first aid assistance to students and staff and advise the college's Senior Management Team on all matters of First Aid, reportable illnesses, conditions and accidents within Truro College. Specifically, you'll be required to provide First Aid to students and staff in the case of injury or the onset of an acute illness or condition during college hours.

The post involves the organisation, monitoring and replacement of first aid resources, including defibrillators and wheelchairs and monitoring the maintenance contracts of specialist college equipment for high needs provision.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a proven track record of working within an operational setting with an emphasis on first aid, notifiable illness, and reportable workplace occupational conditions. You will contribute more broadly to our Student Services Team between callout duties.

You will need to be a strong communicator with excellent interpersonal organisational and management skills. You will need good computer experience and familiarity with IT systems as all recording and reporting is done though our Management Information System.

A nursing qualification, higher level first aid experience or paramedic qualification will be a significant advantage as well as previous experience within an educational setting.

Access to own transport is desirable as the post may require travel to and from the hospital and occasional duties which extend beyond normal working hours.

To be successful in this role you will need the ability to communicate effectively with young people, their parents and carers and teaching staff. You will require the knowledge and confidence to work independently and the skills to resolve emerging challenges. You must also have a genuine interest in helping to support and improve young people's lives.
