We have a new and exciting opportunity to join Activate Learning as Director of Additional Learning Support. This role is to lead Group Learning Support (GLS), a high performing team of professionals dedicated to supporting the inclusion, success, and progression of learners in all sectors who require additional support with their learning, including those with learning difficulties, disabilities and study skills needs.

The success of this post holder will be to influence the development of a group-wide culture and practice where all colleagues are confident and empowered to support SEND.
The post holder shall have responsibility for supporting and overseeing lead the strategic direction of support for SEND learners across faculties, specifically in the classroom, and the development of an innovative model for learning support based on our Learning Philosophy, and a key pillar of our Connected Support Network.

There will be a focus on ensuring that there are high standards for learning support and enable the team to achieve them consistently. You will review and recommend design and delivery approaches, creative quality assurance and quality improvement measures and ensure that successes are shared.
Full details of duties and responsibilities can be found as part of the job description. This is a permanent, full time role based at any of our campus locations with the requirement to travel across all sites, (Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Surrey).
What do you need to be successful in this role?
You will be clear and confident in your communication style and be able to influence stakeholders in a manner consistent with our values, and drive change through consultation and collaboration. You will convey messages in a compelling and informative way and an independent thinker who can nurture and develop relationships effectively.
You will bring substantial experience of leading and achieving high outcomes in SEND, hold a teacher’s qualification, and have knowledge of curriculum design and teaching and learning strategies that promote inclusion and success of SEND learners. You will be confident in budget management with knowledge of funding streams for learning support and use data to lead decision making.
Managing the team will be key to the success of the department, You will manage a highly competent team, be skilled at driving the development of processes and procedures to achieve integrated and efficient service delivery, have a good awareness of legislation and national/local initiatives relating to SEND and disability and be able to effectively manage resources to achieve efficiencies and value. You will be experienced in fostering a culture of coaching and ongoing development to promote excellence within the team.
