Tutor – Functional Skills Workplace

West Suffolk College, Delivery of teaching and learning will be within Peterborough and Cambridge

35 hours per week, Permanent

Salary: £24,591.48 - £30,436.35 per annum, depending on experience

Are you an experienced functional skills teacher looking for an exciting new challenge with the freedom to manage your own classes across Peterborough and Cambridge?

This position will require some evening/twilight sessions and will comprise of both face to face and online delivery.  You will be supported by experienced Programme Leads and meet with them on a regular weekly basis via MSTeams meetings or face to face meetings based in Bury St Edmunds.   All other working hours will be remote and in flexible, reasonable, agreement with the department.

Role Responsibilities

  • Teach English and Maths functional skills qualifications to employed adults in a range of classes across workplaces in the Cambridge and Peterborough regions, including NHS sites
  • Play an active part within the Adult Maths and English delivery team which includes:
    • Developing standard schemes of work and lesson plans as appropriate
    • Disseminating exemplar teaching, learning and assessment materials
    • Participate in internal verification for Entry Level Functional Skills English
    • Participate in weekly course team meetings, curriculum planning and materials development as appropriate.
  • Attend team meetings and student recruitment events as appropriate

Required qualifications, skills and experience

  • A Certificate in Education, PGCE or other higher teaching qualification would be advantageous.
  • Significant experience of teaching Maths and English Functional Skills
  • Good or better ‘Teaching, Learning and Assessment’ grades.
  • Experience of working with Adults
