City of Portsmouth College has been formed by the merger of Portsmouth College and Highbury College and was formally constituted on 1 August 2021.

The newly formed College will give students of all ages even greater flexibility with their programmes and access to dedicated subject facilities at the different campus locations. The joint organisation will also expand a uniquely flexible curriculum offer within the city of Portsmouth, comprising A Levels, vocational diplomas, apprenticeships and higher education qualifications.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Work Experience and Industry Placement Co-ordinator

Job Title:             Work Experience and Industry Placement Co-ordinator

Hours:                 37 hours per week, 41 weeks per year

Contract:             Permanent 

Salary:                £17,538.04, including holiday pay (FTE £19,731.36)

Location:             Tangiers Road

We are seeking to appoint a Work Experience and Industry Placement Coordinator to seek work experience, volunteering and work-related opportunities to support students in gaining the skills, knowledge and experience that will support them in their learning journey whilst at college and beyond.


Some of the roles and responsibilities for this position are:

  • Promote work experience, industry placements and employer engagement opportunities to enhance student participation. 
  • Coordinate (working with the Work Experience and Industry Placement Lead) the delivery of high-quality work experience, industry placement and employer engagement opportunities.  
  • Develop and establish employer links, promoting and fostering long term working relationships.  
  • Promote work experience, industry placements and employer engagement opportunities to enhance student participation working with E6, Careers and curriculum teams.  
  • Liaise with curriculum areas to seek and support placements for students identified, completing the necessary paperwork as required by the college and the place of employment. 


The role requires an individual who has well developed organisational, communication and team working skills. They must also be able to meet targets and deadlines. The role is for 37 hours per week, 41 weeks per year based at out Tangiers Road.

  • You will need to be qualified to Suitable level 3 qualification (A levels or vocational) 
  • Experience of working in a customer focussed environment
  • Good verbal, written and communication skills 
  • Ability to organise own work and show initiative in developing the role    
  • Be flexible and self-motivated with a dedication to student achievement and quality.
