WHAT WE DO

The Maths team is based within the School of Engineering which is one of the largest departments in the College. We work closely with the vocational staff to help support students on their study programme and to gain the qualifications they need to progress further in their career or study. We work alongside the English team to support students with their GCSE qualifications, CORE Maths and Engineering Maths. We are looking for a Maths Course Leader who will work closely with the Maths & English Programme Manager to deliver a robust, innovative and creative programme of study in order to help and support learners in achieving the desired qualifications so they can progress further in their Engineering career.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

You will be responsible for retention, achievement, success and attendance rates for identified cohorts.
You will be tracking attendance and contacting students and parents in regards to attendance on course.
You will be responsible for developing new units, modules and courses in line with government policy, awarding organisation developments and student demand as well as local community, economic and employer requirements.
You will deliver and assess essential knowledge and understanding to learners.
You will plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources and assessment plans.
You will maintain and update knowledge of the subject and / or vocational area
You will maintain and update knowledge of educational research to develop evidence- based practice
You will motivate and inspire students to achieve targets and develop their skills to enable progression
You will reflect on what works best in teaching and learning to meet the diverse needs of students
You will develop and adapt curriculum delivery to maximise its effectiveness and efficiency
You will be responsible for recording student progress and meeting individual and group learner targets.
You will carry out internal verification/moderation.

YOUR PROFILE

We are looking for a creative and inspiring Maths teacher with experience of delivering GCSE Maths & CORE Maths to a variety of learners. The ideal candidate will have in depth knowledge of the GCSE specification in order to support other Maths teachers and drive learners towards their aspirational destinations. Teamwork and collaboration is essential.
