Activate Learning are now looking for a supply teacher to join our Lifeskills faculty teaching team at Merrist Wood College.
The post will be predominantly to teach learners on our foundation pathways (from PreEntry – Level 1) starting immediately and on an ongoing basis until we fill the post on a fixed term basis. The post holder will have the opportunity to apply for the fixed term role but this is not a pre-requisite.
The post will be paid on an hourly rate for 11 hours per week working Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday ideally.
The Lifeskills team works to support learners who face substantial barriers to education, including learners with special educational needs. This post provides an excellent opportunity for a teacher with passion and drive who is committed to enabling our students to unlock their potential and switch on to the power of learning.
This is challenging and rewarding position and the successful applicant will be making a difference to our students lives whilst working in an extremely supportive team.
What do you need to be successful in this role?
Successful candidates will have an appropriate professional qualification or experience. Whilst we would prefer applications from qualified teachers who hold a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification, we would consider applications from unqualified applicants, with the ability to inspire our learners. Unqualified candidates would start at a lower salary point and this could be discussed at interview, if successfully shortlisted.

In addition, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will have an open mindset and attitude towards technology and virtual learning tools. Along with current Maths and English skills, you will also demonstrate the ability to engage and develop students and role model the attributes that we develop within our learners.
