School Finance Officer

Recruitment 4 Education are currently working with an outstanding school close to Erdington, Birmingham to find an experienced School Finance Officer. This is a full-time long-term to permanent position with an immediate start but the school are willing to wait until January if the successful candidate is unable to start sooner.You will be required to support the Business Operations Manager in providing accurate and timely financial data in a format that will enable informed budget and performance monitoring information to assist in the decision-making for the Leadership Team; Governors; and Trustees. You need to have high quality organisational, ICT, numeracy, interpersonal and communication skills together with a basic knowledge of financial and purchasing processes. Whilst it would be advantageous to have knowledge of PS Financials, this is not essential since full training will be provided. 1. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Assist in the development and implementation of financial procedures of all financial transactions/activities within the Academy. 2. Create purchase orders and sending order to suppliers; including being responsible for incoming goods and performing checks against orders received. Deal with all purchasing related queries. 3. To oversee the management and reconciliation of petty cash; recording all transactions onto the financial system and when required, collecting and recording of money from pupils and parents. 4. Process purchase invoices and posting onto the finance system. 5. Process monthly sales invoices to other Academies and agencies; along with money collection and accurate recording onto the financial system. 6. Chase outstanding debts. 7. Support in the completion of the twice monthly BACS payments runs ie. WS and College Invoices and Expenses 8. Preparation of the VAT returns on a monthly basis. 9. Undertake the posting of all payments and receipts onto the finance system along with the reconciliation of the bank statements on a weekly basis. 10. Manager the Student Bursary arrangements. 11. Assist in monitoring all Academy budgets and accounts throughout the year, ensuring that all budget records are maintained and up to date. 12. Assist in the preparation of regular management accounts for budget holders and aid the reporting on a monthly basis on the financial state of the Academy to the Senior Leadership Team by the Business Operations Manager. 13. Assist in the organisation of Academy activities and events as required. 14. Maintain the 'service level agreement' file and liaise with the Business Operations Manager to ensure "best value" is being achieved. 15. Any other duties as directed by the Business Operations Manager and/or members of SLT.EXPERIENCERelevant work and other experience - Experience in budgeting and budgetary control at an appropriate levelSubstantial experience of working in an office and experience of working in a school environment.SKILLS AND ABILITIESWritten communication skills, dealing with the publicAbility to communicate at all levels both orally and in writing, and excellent interpersonal skills.Good working knowledge of Microsoft office, internet and email systems, and an ability to learn new computer skills.Good time management and organisational skills. * Salary if permanent appointment: Grade 3 £19,191 - £22,935 per annum * Hours: 36.5 hours per week, Term time only plus 2 weeks holiday working * Start date: As soon as possible and January 2022
