SEN Teacher - Mainstream Secondary School

Salary: £31,133 - £42,729 per year, plus an Academy TLA of £2,881 pa on topTo be the lead SEND teacher at one of two Academy (Secondary) School sites. This post will include the responsibility of line managing staff within the Academy's Learning Support Service at one of the sites, as well as facilitating the provision and progress of students identified as having Special Educational Needs and Disabilities at that site.Specific responsibilitiesPlay an active role in the development of the curriculum and pedagogy, to ensure students with SEND make good progress, irrespective of their individual circumstancesWork with others within the SEND department to monitor the provision mapping of SEND students, inputting and updating students' provision, using the provision map softwareLiaise with parents, teachers and external agencies to monitor the progress and provision of SEND students.Contribute to the assessment and identification of the special needs of students not yet on the Special Needs register.Work collaboratively with mainstream teachers, to develop in them the ability to support students with SEND, and to produce appropriately differentiated tasks for students with SEND.Work with other professionals to develop and review individual education plans (IEPs) for students, involving students, parents/carers in the process wherever possible.Line manage, supervise and guide the work of any support staff (including Teaching Assistants (TAs) and Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) who are assigned to work with post holder's classes/students.Support in the application of Educational Health Care Plans and facilitate the Annual Reviews of students with EHC plans.Support staff training to meet the needs of the students in the mainstream setting.To ensure the Academy's transition plans are implemented effectively for students with SEND at all key stages.General responsibilitiesDeliver a range of Wave 2 and Wave 3 lessons and/or interventions.To be a form tutor, and fulfil the associated pastoral responsibilities, for the Wave 3 pupils at an Academy site.To develop plans of action, schemes of work and materials to support such students' progress within the curriculumTo be accountable for the attainment and progress of all students who are taught by the post holder.To comply with the Teachers' Standards.To attend team and staff meetings.To uphold the Academy's disciplinary rules and staff code of conduct.To follow the Academy's health and safety requirements.To be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and to follow the relevant policies and procedures.Contribute to the maintenance of a caring and stimulating environment for young people.To always act in accordance with the statutory frameworks that set out how the Academy must operate.To carry out any other reasonable duties within the scope of the post as directed by the Head Teacher.Not appropriate for NQTSIn order to be considered for this role you will need to meet the following criteria:Have experience working with ASD (desirable)Have experience working with SEN (desirable)Experienced UK and/or OS-trained teachers welcome to applyEligible to work in the UK (must have valid visa or settlement statusRecent classroom-based references and valid DBS/police checksBe available to start January 2022Please respond to this ad, or send your relevant CV to Eloise Wheeler- (url removed) - Submissions close 25th November APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR VERITAS EDUCATIONAll applications are subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure, professional reference checks, Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) in line with our stringent safeguarding policyYour CV must cover the last 10 years of employment history where possible and all employment breaks must be explainedYou must have legal right to work in the UKYou must be willing to attend a registration interviewVeritas Education work with a variety of schools covering a wide geographical area.
