Empowering Learning School Open DaySEMH - Teaching AssistantPrimary/Secondary SEND School * Based in Shepherds Bush * Full-timeEmpowering Learning are looking for candidates with experience working with children with learning difficulties, Social Emotional Mental Health difficulties (SEMH) and challenging behaviour. The school we are currently supporting has given us the opportunity to hold an Open Day for applicants in the school that is based close to White City Station, Shepherds Bush.This will allow applicants to meet school staff and pupils, but also see the facilities they offer their pupils. The school specialises in SEMH / MLD / ASC needs and supports secondary aged pupils. They use a creative and nurturing approach and focus on life skills, so they are seeking passionate Teaching Assistants, Learning Mentors and Learning Support Assistants who have the training and a good understanding of the needs of SEMH and BESD pupils.Our client school are looking for committed staff on a full-time basis, working long term within the school for up to 6-months. The ideal candidate will support a class of up to 10 pupils and will be responsible for supporting the pupil's behaviour, learning and development. The school is open to considering candidates with previous experience as Youth Workers, Sports Coaches, Support Workers, Care Workers or Life Coaches. You will require excellent Behaviour Management skills and have the patience to support young people from challenging backgrounds.Candidate Job Requirements:Relevant experience from a similar environmentExcellent communication skills, the ability to use initiative and work well under pressure.Recent experience with children or adults with ASC, SEMH and other challenging behaviourUnderstanding de-escalation approaches to challenging behaviourValid DBS registered with the online update service or be willing to apply for a new oneAvailable 5 days a weekAble to commit to 6-12 months The school is a friendly and supportive environment and a rewarding place to work where every member of staff participates in enabling the pupils to learn and to aspire to achieve meaningful independence.
