Our clients are nestled in the beautiful Rutland countryside upon 3,000 acres of safe non-tidal water offering a variety of club races and social activity. They are a sailing centre of excellence for training and development as endorsed by the RYA as a National Sailing Academy and boast a 10,000 square foot clubhouseWe are incredibly excited to recruit on their behalf a Sailing School Manager / Chief Instructor to join their friendly team.PurposeTo manage the Sailing School and provide 'Club Pro' support to Club members. To support the General Manager in the day to day running of the Sailing Club.Key ResponsibilitiesRun a well-respected RYA training centreOrganise and deliver 'Club Pro' activitiesMember focussed, with a very high level of customer serviceManage the in-house chandleryAttend sailing committeeTo organise and complete staff recruitmentWork with the club Committee to decide and deliver budgetsDevelopment and mentoring of instructional staffEndorsing and implementing the Sailing Club policiesManage bookings to ensure an effective and efficient programme is maintainedOrganisation of resources, management and maintenance of equipmentConducting team meetings as required and maintaining a high degree of communication between all parties.Act as additional keyholder and emergency contactWorking patternHappy and able to work annualized hours more in the summer less in the winter. Planned with other staff to ensure cover at the weekends and at other times when the club is particularly busy. Availability for weekend working on a rota basis is essential throughout the year.Normal weekends will require two of the three managers to be on duty, some low season weekends may require only one manager. Occasional evenings are required.Our clients are one of the largest inland sailing clubs in the UK with over 1500 members and a full racing and training programme for the full range of boats from Optimists to 27ft Keelboats plus an extensive open meeting and external training programme. * Recognised as an RYA Training Centre, ICC Test Centre and OnBoard Club * The club has its own in-house sailing school operating year round balancing commercial RYA courses and training for members and fleets * The sailing school also provides 'Club Pro' support for member activities * Facilities on site include a workshop, extensive club house with bar, catering and accommodation facilities, training block and chandlery * On-water facilities include 4 pontoon jetties, 120 moorings, 11 RIBs, 4 race committee boats, 2 workboatsPerson Specification Essential * RYA Senior instructor, RYA Powerboat instructor, RYA Racing Coach * Very good sailor * In date First aidPerson Specification, Desirable Qualifications * Advanced / Racing / Multihull / Keelboat / Foiling instructor * Coach assessor / Trainer * First aid instructor SRC/VHF instructorPreferred attributes / background knowledge * Open meeting racer knowledge of a wide range of boats * Knowledge or chandlery parts * Able to lead and work with paid staff and volunteers * Able to prepare and pass a RYA inspection * Write risk assessments * Write operations procedure * Offer advice to Members Run the shop / Chandlery Day skipper / Yacht * Knowledge Experience of repair and maintenance associated with sailing activitiesTraining and support will be provided for this role.
