Software Development Trainer

South-Central Institute of Technology (IoT) in partnership with Activate Learning, are proud to have recently launched a new programme of digital learning from our Reading Campus and has extensive growth plans across the coming 5 years.

We are looking to attract an industry professional in Software Development, who wants to change pathways to work with young people, utilising their skills in a new and exciting way.

Our aim, redesigning the landscape of how technology learning experiences are delivered. It is happening now, we are embracing and leading on new challenges, disrupting traditional education, and innovating and remastering the student experience.  We are looking for someone exceptional, entrepreneurial, motivated, and ready to influence others. This is a relationship building role and we want to ensure our success by maximising the relationships we have built with our partners and driving up our learner numbers. The activities you undertake will focus on enhancing learner experience by unlocking partner commitments and ensuring that learning is delivered in a way that is relevant and aligned to the industry standards.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

You will ideally be an experienced Software Developer, with experience across various industries and systems, with the ability to communicate to people who have little or no understanding of this sector in a way that is compelling, interesting, and inspiring.

Through education, training and coaching you will equip students with the skills but also relate their learning to current and future industry requirements and emerging technologies.  You will stay abreast of the evolution of technology and ensure that our offering is compelling and engaging.

You may not have considered a role like this before, where your experience of training, coaching, or mentoring in a previous role could offer you an exciting opportunity to support the future learning and development of the digital sector.

You will be joining a new and exciting venture, supported by one of the largest Education Providers in the UK.  You will be provided with peer-to-peer learning to shape the future offering that we deliver across the South Central IoT.  This is a huge venture, and you will be supported at every step of the way to set you up for success. We have extensive technology in place to ensure working for home and flexible working options, especially in these times.

What are the benefits of working at the South Central IoT?

The South Central IoT is a consortium of prestigious partners led by Activate Learning in partnership with Milton Keynes College.  Anchor partners include Microsoft, McAfee, Evidence Talks, VWFS, Cranfield University and KPMG. We will create an environment of new thinking, not simply a space to rehearse the technical skills of today.

South Central IoT will be the first choice for digital technology education in its region. It will be more than an educational facility; it will be a hub of innovation and technological advancement dedicated to transforming the lives of its students and meeting the skills needs of industry. We work with employers to bring together digital thought leaders from across the globe to inform the curriculum design.

Students will accelerate their careers and create a brighter future, a future that is driven by innovation and the freedom to create, grow and develop their skills alongside a community of industry partners. By 2025 a thousand students a year are expected to benefit from the expertise of the South Central IoT which will plug the growing gap between demand and supply for key technical and digital roles.

Activate Learning is one of the top 3 largest further education groups in the UK, pioneering education with an unwavering focus on providing talent for business and transforming lives through the award-winning Learning Philosophy.
