Lecturer in Engineering

(Permanent full time, 36 hours per week, through the year) Starting 15th August 2022

 

We are looking for a full time Lecturer to teach on our Engineering courses, including delivering units which are both theoretical and practical based on a range of courses; BTEC levels 1, 2 and 3 and Access to HE Engineering.  It would be advantageous to have the ability to deliver aspects of electrical and mechanical engineering units such as electrical and electronic principles, mechanical principles, further mathematics for engineering technicians, Further Mathematics for Engineering Technicians, Engineering Drawing for Technicians, Principles and Applications of Electronic Devices and Circuits and to be familiar with CAD software (i.e. AutoCAD).

 

A relevant degree or professional qualification is required. Applicants without any qualifications but with substantial experience teaching their subject area may be considered. An appropriate teaching qualification or commitment to obtaining the qualification within the specified time period.

 

Salary:  Band H - I, points 25 – 35, £29,718 - £39,079 per annum

MAIN DUTIES

 

  1. Managing the learning activities of students according to their educational needs.

 

  1. Teaching effectively and efficiently students studying a range of part-time and full-time courses.

 

  1. Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of students.

 

  1. Developing, monitoring and evaluating curriculum provision and learning strategies.

 

  1. Preparing assessment and learning materials for on-line learning.

 

     6.  Acting as a Tutor as required and providing guidance and support for students within the framework of a cross-college tutorial and pastoral care system.

 

  1. Participating in the interviewing, admission, enrolment and induction of students.

 

  1. Marketing of new and existing provision.

 

  1. Maintaining discipline among students and safeguarding their health and safety both on College premises and when they are engaged in authorised College activities elsewhere.

 

  1. Participating in the appraisal scheme and arrangements made for further training and professional development.

 

  1. Taking personal responsibility for supporting, promoting and following all College policies in relation to health and safety, safeguarding, equality and diversity and data protection within the scope of the post.

 

  1. Performing administrative and organisational tasks related to the work of the College, including participation in meetings arranged for any of the purposes described above.

 

 

The postholder can be required to carry out any other duties consistent with the grade of the post, at any site on which the College may operate.
