Mental Health Support Worker

Part Time:                     37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

Salary:                           £19,673 to £24,203 per annum (£16,673 to £20,898 pro rata)

Fixed Term:                   12 Months

The role of the Mental Health Support Worker will be responsible for providing a high quality effective mental health service to learners.  Working alongside a team of welfare advisors you will provide advice, support and strategies to support students in relation to on-going mental health concerns.

Key responsibilities:

• Provide students with care, advice and guidance, from initial support that will be identified by the welfare team and work together to promote independence and resilience.
• Hold a case load of students who have difficulty with their mental health and provide key advice.
• Take responsibility for ensuring that the mental health support is available for all students and that provision is in place to accommodate and transition new students in to college from their previous education setting.
• Be alert and responsive to any safeguarding issue that requires further action whilst working with students.

Candidates should possess a level 3 qualifications in Health and Social Care and have a good level of education along with good written and verbal skills.  This role may suit an applicant with a mental health nursing background.

Excellent organisational and problems solving skills are another pre – requisite, as is the ability to be an effective team member.
