Are you a qualified chef looking to work with fresh seasonal food, with the opportunity to have more of a work life balance and make what you do matter?

Our team at Preston College are looking for a Second Chef on a permanent basis for 31.75 hours per week, annualised hours over 36 weeks.

Working as Chef/Cook at Preston, you will have the chance to deliver hotel/restaurant standards without the split shifts and long weeks. You will assist the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome and well balanced menus whilst working with external clients to tailor menus around them. JFG 6 £19,351 (SCP 10) to £20,354 (SCP 14) per annum, pro rata

• A personable and warm approach

Hold City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent
• Experience in helping lead and inspire a team
• A good understanding of nutrition
• Experience of working with fresh seasonal food
• Good understanding of HACCP


• Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence
• Assist the Head Chef in menu development
• Work fresh produce to deliver high quality and wholesome dishes cooked at the highest quality and standards and working within budget
• Complete regular audits
• Manage stock control
• To assist in leading and motivating a team
