Farnham College, part of Activate Learning, are now looking for an English Teacher with a genuine passion for the subject to join our dedicated and hard-working teaching team. This role will predominately involve teaching GCSE English Language within our Academic and Professional Studies faculty.
This is a permanent, part time role working 8 hours per week (0.22 FTE), with the potential to earn up to £35,216 per annum pro rata, depending on qualifications and experience.
Duties will include:
Teach, train and assess students and other client groups to quality standards set by the College, acting as course tutor to full-time and part-time groups and other student and trainees with the associated organisation, administration, and monitoring of attendance including the collection of data for course evaluation.
Monitor and support students’ academic progress, including collection and follow up on attendance and punctuality, early leaver and destinations data.
Participate in demonstrations and practical activities with students and trainees on all courses.
Work as part of a team within your Faculty, participating in student recruitment, including interviewing, attendance at shows and careers conventions, open days and other events, and attend team and college meetings and undertake staff development activities.
Undertake any other duties as required and would be reasonably expected commensurate with the post. This may include either the temporary or permanent re-deployment to an equivalent grade or post within the organisation.
What do you need to be successful in this role?
Successful applicants will have an appropriate professional qualification and/or a degree, experience teaching GCSE English is essential.
Whilst we would prefer applications from qualified teachers who hold a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification, we would consider applications from unqualified applicants, with the ability to inspire our learners and a willingness to complete a teaching qualification.
In addition, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will demonstrate the ability to engage and develop students and role model the attributes that we develop within our learners.
