Secondary School Teaching Assistant (SEN)Pay: £55-£85Location: Newcastle upon TyneStart date: September 2022A secondary school in Newcastle upon Tyne are looking for experienced Learning Support Assistants to work within their ASD unit helping children with SEMH and SEN barriers. The school are looking for teaching assistants who are patient, attentive and have good behaviour management skills.This is an Alternative Schooling Provision which caters for children and young people (age 12-18) with various SEN including SEMH, Attachment Disorder, Autism, ADHD, Aggression, and those from LAC backgrounds.The school offers fantastic progression routes to become a Teacher, Outreach Support worker and/or Intervention Tutor!Your role will involve supporting the class teacher and multi-agency teams devise learning and care plans and to encourage the child/ young person to reach their full potential.You will be required to set clear boundaries and manage triggers of challenging behaviour whilst supporting the child academically, emotionally, and socially.The ideal candidate will have:The ability to set high standards on behaviour A team player that is willing to contribute to the overall success of the schoolA current Enhanced DBS registered with the update service or be prepared to apply for a new one Great rapport builderExcellent organisational skillsPassion, enthusiasm, and pro-activity Availability for at least three days per week - GSL Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
