Learning Advisors in ALS

We require new Learning Advisors to join our highly successful Additional Learning Support team. The team provides a range of support for students with a wide range of learning difficulty or disability, to enable them to access the educational opportunities offered by the College.

You will be required to support learners at our campuses based in Watford and Hemel Hempstead and some community-based provisions. Your focus will be supporting learners in the classroom and assisting teaching staff to meet the diverse needs of learners. You may also spend some time supporting learners in out of class support sessions. Some knowledge of EHCP and the procedure associated with gathering information for annual review meetings is desirable.

You must be able to work well within a team and cross college colleagues and have the aptitude to work independently, when required.  You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of students. Keeping accurate records is essential. Ideally you will be educated to at least Level 3 and have already worked with 16- to 19-year-olds and/or adults with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities.

An understanding of the specific educational needs of such students within an FE setting is desirable but a proven enthusiasm for this area of work essential for this exciting opportunity.

There are both full and part time roles available starting from September 2022.

You’ll have the full support of a dynamic team and opportunities to bring your ideas to the role. Training and development are at the heart of everything we do so you’ll be actively encouraged to upskill.

You can access a wide range of discounts and benefits, free on-site parking, family friendly leave policies including generous maternity and paternity leave.  We offer a generous pension scheme, up to 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, time off at Christmas and early finishes on a Friday.

The closing date for applications is Friday 19th August 2022.
