We are looking for an enthusiastic and inspiring Vocational Trainer in Performing Arts within the Creative Industries Faculty based at Oxford College.
This post provides an excellent opportunity for a practitioner/tutor or developing teacher with passion and drive who is committed to enabling our students to unlock their potential and switch on to the power of learning. The post will be to support the teaching and skill development of students on our Performing Arts courses across a range of levels up to and including our L2 Acting and Level 3 Acting/Dance pathways.
Working side by side with teaching staff, our team of Vocational Trainers are responsible for guiding students as they build a wide bases of practical skills across a variety of Acting and Dance pathways.
This is a part-time (0.5 FTE), fixed term contract until July 2023 working 18.5 hours per week.
What do you need to be a successful Vocational Trainer at Activate Learning?
Successful candidates will have an appropriate professional qualification and/or a degree, preferably with a generalist Performing Arts or Dance base to support the development of a wide variety of skills within our practical lessons and workshops. A strong focus in Acting, Dance and Musical Theatre would be particularly useful. Whilst we would prefer applications from those with teaching experience in a secondary or FE setting, we would consider applications from inexperienced trainers, with the ability to inspire our learners and a willingness to develop skills within teaching and learning.
In addition, you will need to have a flexible approach, coupled with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills. You will have an open mindset and attitude towards technology and virtual learning tools. Along with current Maths and English skills, you will also demonstrate the ability to engage and develop students and role model the attributes that we develop within our learners.
Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate their desire and ability to work alongside the wider team to develop links with local businesses and the wider community to build and engage students in valuable work experience and project-based learning.
