Lecturer, Computer Game (LCC3535)

WHAT WE DO
  • The School of Higher Education STEM, at the University Centre Campus, is looking for an enthusiastic, dynamic and forward thinking Game Development Lecturer.
  • The ideal candidate will have either industry experience or a Masters in a related field.
  • We are particularly keen to hear from applicants who have expertise in some of the following areas: understanding of game creation pipelines, indie development, knowledge of design theory; understanding of project management tools and immersive technology.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • We are looking for someone who has teaching experience and who has taught game development topics.
  • You will work towards strategies to ensure the high retention, achievement, success and attendance rates for identified courses are reached.
  • You will manage the process of learner and their courses to ensure groups of learners are on track to achieve their potential.
  • You will ensure effective delivery of sessions across the curriculum, using a wide range of teaching methods, for Game development courses.
  • You will have a quality focus and continually seek out improvements in the games department.
  • You will contribute to the development of new programmes, such as Degree courses in Game Development.
  • You will research, implement and train staff on immersive learning opportunities to enhance and excite the curriculum offer across the department.

YOUR PROFILE
  • You will possess an up to date and current knowledge of the Game Development landscape.
  • You should have experience of teaching Game related topics.
  • You should hold a Level 5 (or above) Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE).
  • You should have a degree in Game Development or a related topic (Preferably Masters).
  • You should have English and Maths qualifications at Level 2 or above, with a willingness to improve in one or both disciplines to Level 3 or above.
  • You should have relevant up to date subject knowledge and evidence of Continued Professional Development (CPD).
  • You should have experience of positively managing student and group progression, advice and guidance in a school or Further Education setting, with positive outcomes.
