The Engineering Centre of Excellence at Wigan and Leigh College are the education provider for a range of higher level and degree apprenticeship standards. This is a significant area of growth for the College and we are seeking professionals with HE assessment experience and/or engineers to contribute to the development and guidance of future engineers.

The post holder will be working in a range of engineering industries locally supporting and developing apprentice engineers and liaising with their line managers. The Higher Education Professional Mentor for Engineering will be carrying out workplace reviews, advising on portfolio evidence and setting action plans for apprentices to work towards End Point Assessment.

There will be a requirement to deliver some workshops and the role will include some internal verification duties working alongside an existing team in College. This role presents an opportunity to engage in the development of the College’s offer in conjunction with employer partners and awarding bodies.

Suitable candidates will hold preferably a civil engineering/ construction degree with significant experience in assessing at HE levels 4, 5 and 6 or be technical experts ideally recognised by professional body accreditation. Experience of work based assessment within the engineering sector would be desirable.
