Quality Manager

Blackburne House Group is a training led organisation, which delivers high quality training and education services. We’re based in a beautiful Grade II listed building, situated in Liverpool’s famous Hope Street quarter, close to the city centre. Attracting thousands of visitors each year, our facilities include an education centre for women, the School for Social Entrepreneurs North West, a thriving bistro, a women’s wellness centre, excellent conference facilities and a 30 place nursery. About the Role

The Quality Manager will lead the team to evaluate and develop the quality of education across our AEB provision. We are looking for a leader with the skills to secure continuous improvements to our education provision, supporting the development of our tutors to provide our learners with an inspirational learning experience. The Quality Manager will play a key role in improving the quality of delivery to ensure that Blackburne House meets the requirements of external regulators. They will ensure that Blackburne House is always OFSTED ready.

About you

We are looking for an inspirational leader who is passionate about the delivery of an outstanding, inclusive and innovative learning experience for all our students. You must be fully conversant with Ofsted Education Inspection Framework 2019 ensuring these standards are fully embedded with all delivery and programme development. We're looking for someone with a full teaching qualification (PGCE, DTLLS, Cert Ed or equivalent) and experience in managing a team or working in a similar role.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • To provide inspirational leadership working with the Director of Education to implement a clear vision for the development of Education programmes within the organisation.
  • To lead and implement the Blackburne House Curriculum Quality Strategy to ensure the quality of education is outstanding.
  • To line manage the Internal Quality Assurance Team, Learner Support, leading on External Quality Assurance Activities to achieve and maintain Direct Claim Status.
  • To lead on the self-assessment and quality improvement plan, and the improvement planning processes across the provision aligned with the Education Inspection Framework.
  • To be responsible for all aspects of Blackburne House quality standards, use of data and continuous improvement to achieve outstanding inspection status.
  • To lead the learner/employer voice strategy ensuring every aspect of the learner journey is monitored, assessed and reported upon for quality improvement and service standards in line with national best practice. 
  • To lead on the successful achievement of quality kite marks e.g., MATRIX To lead and report on the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Improvement strategies and impact.
  • To lead and implement Blackburne House safeguarding policies.
  • To keep abreast of best practice relating to teaching, learning and assessment, including pedagogical developments and changes to the inspection framework, and disseminate the information within the organisation.
  • To implement and communicate policies linked to the development of teaching, learning and assessment.
  • To act as either inspection nominee or assistant nominee for Ofsted inspections as agreed.
  • To ensure planned training is aligned to individual needs and meets the business strategy and operational requirements.
  • To complete face to face and remote observations of teaching and learning evaluating the quality of education and learning experience with clear developmental verbal and written feedback.
  • To manage teaching, learning and assessment systems to record, analyse and evaluate the impact of delivery and improvement plans.
  • To promote the use of technology to drive improvements in the quality of learning.
  • To manage teaching, learning and assessment systems to record, analyse and evaluate the quality of Teaching, Learning and Assessment, identifying areas for development and strengths.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Ensuring Tutors have the relevant qualifications and competence to deliver qualifications and learner journeys in line with Blackburne House ways of working and that this is accurately recorded on the Staff Matrix Ensure all observations are completed with evidence-based improvement strategies provided in a timely manner.
  • To ensure all delivery is maintained at a minimum Ofsted Grade 2 and implement support plans where necessary.
  • To lead on Self-Assessment Reviews to promote continuous improvement of the learner journey through the production and monitoring of all aspects of delivery
  • To achieve and maintain Direct Claims and the timely achievement of all qualifications 
  • To implement the Quality Improvement Strategy across the organisation.

  • V1 or alternative recognised internal quality assurance qualification.

  • Experience of leading face to face and remote observations and making judgments in line with the standards identified in the current Education Inspection Framework.
  • Knowledge of current thinking regarding effective pedagogy, best practice and teaching and learning research and the impact of these on the quality of learning.
  • Experience of coaching and mentoring individuals to improve standards.
  • Experience of promoting wider curriculum areas including Prevent, British Values Diversity and Inclusion, Health and Safety, English and maths, personal development and employability.
