Position: Head of School - Alternative Provision Location: Thetford, Norfolk Salary: £44,000 - £50,000 depending on experience, qualifications, and training Contract Type: Permanent, full-time Start Date: ASAP (flexibility based on successful candidate) About the school Vision for Education are proud to be working with a multi-sited organisation consisting of specialist schools in order to recruit a dynamic Head of School. Learners come from a wide range of backgrounds, but all have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH). Many will also have other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) such as Autism, ADHD, and communication difficulties. Many will have suffered significant trauma and adverse childhood experiences and may have social care involvement. The work the school does is both varied and challenging and, as a trauma and attachment informed organisation, all staff are provided with extensive therapeutic training and support. The children are placed at the centre of decision making, ensuring that education and therapy professionals, parents/carers, local authority teams and, most importantly, our students can work together to secure outstanding outcomes for all. The school teaches students a personalised curriculum including life/personal skills, as well as functional skills in core subjects About the role The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of a holistic curriculum that places our pupils needs at the centre of their learning. Working closely with a range of industry professionals, managing a team of staff, and delivering clear, authentic leadership that will inspire, engage, and influence real change within your school. As Head of School your core responsibility will be to operationally manage the performance of the school, through close relationships with other members of the Leadership Team, Senior Leaders and Executive Team by ensuring that the school is providing high quality, alternative education for our students and ensuring the school is compliant at all times through an outstanding provision. There is a supportive team already in place and the group which the school belongs to benefits from a HR team, curriculum planner, SENDCO, & more. Fundamentally, the Head of School, in conjunction with and supported by members of the Leadership and Executive Team will: Ensure compliance with the teacher standards, Independent School Standards, the Education Act and all statutory and contractual obligations; Monitor and support the overall progress and development of all staff and students; Plan, implement and deliver an appropriately broad, balanced, relevant and differentiated curriculum for students; Facilitate and encourage a learning experience which provides students with the opportunity to achieve their individual potential; Contribute to raising standards of student attainment; Lead the school s responsibility to provide and monitor opportunities for spiritual, personal, and academic growth Requirements: Teaching qualification (QTS / QTLS) with a track record of good or outstanding teaching practice Have experience working with SEND students, especially SEMH and supporting children with adverse childhood experiences (ACES) Willing to teach English and/or Maths to GCSE (essential) and experience teaching BTEC/Vocational courses (desirable) Experience in designing and delivering an engaging curriculum that meets the needs of all learners Be driven and resilient to ensure the best outcomes for young people In return, they offer: Competitive salary Staff laptop and mobile phone Training and CPD opportunities Small class sizes with TA support Flexible pension scheme The chance to be part of a growing organisation that recognises and rewards effort and potential How to apply Apply today via this website.
