Programme Tutor – Social Care

West Suffolk College, Bury St Edmunds

30 hours per week, Fixed Term – August 2023

Salary: £25,542 per annum - £28,330 per annum (Actual salary £20,709 per annum – £22,970 per annum)

West Suffolk College is one of the country’s leading further education and apprenticeship providers. Our apprenticeship results have consistently remained above the national average. We offer many degrees, HNCs and HNDs at our focused and inclusive University Studies Centre. We have around 13,000 students including nearly 2,000 apprentices studying with us.

We are seeking an individual to join us on a fixed term basis until August 2023, as a Programme Tutor supporting our Social Care apprentices. Your role will be to coach and mentor them throughout the course. This will also include visiting them in the workplace and liaising closely with their employers to ensure the students are on track to complete end point assessments.

The successful candidate should have extensive experience of working in the Social Care sector. You will have a genuine passion for the subject and be able to convey this with employers and students. Previous experience with apprenticeships or education sector would be advantage, however we do encourage applications from those who have not worked in education before and have previously worked in social care.

As a College, our Character Strengths and Mission Statement underpin our expectations of all our students and employees.  Please familiarise yourself with these and incorporate them into your personal statement; this will be of benefit if you are invited to attend for an interview.

This is an opportunity to join a hugely supportive organisation where we value, support and facilitate your professional development, as well as offering many other benefits including an attractive pension scheme, staff wellbeing initiatives and employee assistance.

This College is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
