School Librarian

An Oxford Independent School is looking for an experienced Librarian to join the School in Jan 2023 to enhance teaching and learning with an effective school library to pupils and staff. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a successful, thriving and friendly department, assisting and supporting staff and pupils in their everyday work. Your main duties are:- Develop an ambitious and innovative development plan for the library, putting it at the centre of the scholarly life of the school Build relationships with staff and pupils to make the library welcoming and provide a supporting atmosphere conducive to learning. Assist teaching staff in the education of pupils in the understanding and the use of the library and its resources. Catalogue, maintain, store and organise books, periodicals and online resources. Liaise with Heads of Department to construct reading and resource lists. Prepare and manage the Library budget Co-chair meetings of the Library Working Group alongside the Deputy Head Ensure copyright restrictions are observed and that the appropriate copyright licences are in place Line Manage the Library Assistant and liaise effectively with the Junior School Librarian You need to have:- Previous experience working in a Library as a Librarian A passion for literature that emulates through your work A high level of assertiveness, patience and willingness to help Sense of ownership and control over areas of responsibility Taking pride in running a smooth and efficient Library Desirable but not essential:- Experience managing budgets and financial processes Selective organisational and time management experience This is a full-time role, 34 weeks per year in term time + 7 weeks in the school holidays,41 weeks a year with 11 weeks holidays. 42.5 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Group contribution pension scheme into which the employee contributes 5% of gross salary and the employer contributes 10%.
