Avian Technician 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year £19,655 - £21,100 per annum
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Easton College Animal Management Centre as a Technician (Avian). This is a new role to support the continued investment in the Animal Centre and will provide specialist support for our Avian section, as well as general support across the centre. This role provides practical learning opportunities for students, including demonstrating skills to groups of students and supervising students as they practice skills. In addition, duties will include supporting with animal husbandry, record keeping, and health monitoring, ensuring animals are cared for to the highest welfare and industry standards.
The successful candidate will need to be a genuine team worker and communicate effectively, working in a flexible and busy environment. They will need to have relevant practical experience, working with a range of animals, specifically birds. A working understanding of training birds and enclosure design would be advantageous. There is scope to increase the Avian section, so experience working with a range of bird species would be useful.
Working experience in falconry or a zoo environment with relevant bird species is crucial to the role.
This role will be required to work weekends, bank holidays and during college holidays, including some out of hours responsibility.
