School Education Welfare/Attendance Officer - Southwark

Do you have experience of working in a school office in an administrative capacity? Could you help to achieve a school mission to improve results through increasing and monitoring attendance? Then we could have the job for you! We are currently recruiting for Education Welfare / Attendance officer for a Secondary School in the London Borough of Greenwich. With a working knowledge of the School Information Management System (SIMS), candidates MUST have previous experience of working in an educational establishment, as you will be expected to hit the ground running and deliver a high standard of work in a fast-paced environment. Permanent - Term Time Only 42 Weeks Per Year 37.5 Hours Per Week Salary £32,475.07 per annum (FTE £35,104) THE JOB Under the guidance of senior staff; be responsible for improving School attendance and absence, family liaison/support and leading co-coordinated support including Work with the parents to help them understand and fulfil their legal responsibilities in relation to School attendance and assist in the development of a partnership between the home and School Support the School in fulfilling its statutory duties in relation to attendance and be capable of instigating legal action following appropriate protocols. Work with Schools and other agencies to reduce persistent absence, improve social/educational inclusion, and behaviour. To monitor whole School attendance data and advise key staff of trends, concerns and referrals. Undertake duties commensurate with the Safeguarding agenda for children including representing the School at Child Protection meetings and conferences in order to contribute to quorate decision making. To refer cases to the School's Designated Person for Safeguarding (Child Protection). REQUIREMENTS Excellent administrative and ICT skills, including attention to detail on data entry work, and the ability to multi-task Previous experience of working in a school environment SIMS experience (particularly the attendance module) gained from working in a school, voluntarily or paid, as well as experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel A qualification in Business Administration would be an advantage but is not essential Effective communication skills, particularly a good written standard of English The ability to work with high levels of tact, confidentiality and discretion A patient approach towards working with children and adults alike WHAT NEXT?
