A fantastic opportunity to contribute to the governance and strategic direction of Waltham Forest College, the fastest growing FE College in London

Waltham Forest College Corporation is seeking Board members who have an understanding of the community and a firm belief in the highest standards of public service as well as knowledge, skills and experience in any of the following areas - finance, property & estates, sustainability, Legal and HR.

Waltham Forest College is an aspirational place to learn with highly skilled, supportive staff, industry standard specialist facilities. We are proud to be an inclusive college, supporting and encouraging our students and working closely with employers to ‘Think BIG’ in achieving their career goals.  Waltham Forest College is one of the top performing colleges in London, holding specialist academy status for HealthCare, Construction, Green Technologies and Hospitality and one of only 12 leading institutions selected as a National WorldSkills UK’s Training Centre of Excellence. This provides an exciting opportunity for our students to further develop world-class skills, embedding excellence and developing the higher-level technical skills that employers need.

Waltham Forest College is the one of the growing number of employers recognised for the high  standard of support for our staff and the only college to have been awarded the Mayor of London's good work standard accreditation.

The Board of Governors (Corporation Members) have the experience and abilities relevant to the strategic management of a £27m enterprise, employing 350 members of staff.

The current Board comprises 16 Governors including the Principal, two Staff Governors and two Student Governors. The remaining Governors volunteer their senior level experience, ensuring a balance of skills and experience appropriate to the needs of the College.

The full Board meets approximately four times per academic year on Tuesday evenings and there is also an annual Strategic Planning Conference.  In addition, all Governors are required to sit on at least one of the Corporation’s four committees, which each meet at least once a term, virtually. Please note this is a voluntary unpaid role.
