School Attendance Officer

School Attendance Officer V-Recruit are excited to be working in partnership with one of the UKs most forward thinking, recognised and respected Multi-Academy Trusts to recruit an Attendance Officer to work at a Doncaster-based Secondary school on a permanent basis. This is a permanent role. 37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year (Term time plus 10 days) Actual salary is £20,505.98 - £21,266.31 with annual increments plus inflation linked increases. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8am-4pm. Free onsite parking We are looking for a self-motivated, energetic, and driven individual who can take responsibility for the operational and administrative support needed to promote whole school attendance strategies. You will work directly with the Attendance Manager, with the aim to improve attendance levels, and reduce persistent absence in line with academy targets. Duties to include: Discussing reasons for absence with parents/carers, offering support and challenging where appropriate To hold discussions and meetings with students (groups or individuals) regarding attendance and to mentor individual students where required Responding to parental enquiries/complaints regarding attendance concerns Sending out appropriate correspondence to parents/carers regarding absence and attendance Undertaking home visits to address concerns regarding student absence. Monitoring late arrivals to school and identify appropriate intervention, including student conversations calls to parents or meetings in school. Preparing attendance data for monitoring, reports etc. and presenting data, reports and findings at staff briefings, SLT meetings and assemblies, where required. Maintain the academies registration and attendance management information system, together with the daily automated system to contact parents/carers regarding absent or late students. Process referrals for Fixed Penalty Notices as required Provide admin support to the Education Welfare Officer The chosen candidate will: Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to own transport, for home visits. Be self-motivated, organised and driven to succeed in a fast-paced role that can be very challenging. Have experience in dealing with sensitive information and complying with confidentiality and GDPR Some school attendance experience would be advantageous, although full training will be given for the successful candidate.
