The Additional Learning Support team at Barnfield College, Luton are looking for term time only Learning Support Assistants to join their highly successful team.
The team provides a range of support for students with a wide range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities, to enable them to access the educational and personal development opportunities offered by the college.
You will be required to support learners at our campuses based in Luton. Your focus will be supporting learners in the classroom and assisting teaching staff to meet the diverse needs of learners. You will also spend some time supporting learners in out of class intervention sessions, both online and in person.
You must be able to work well within a team and cross college departments and also have the attitude to work independently, when required. You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of students as well as their parents/carers.
A pro-active and resourceful, learner-focused approach is required as you will be involved in creating individual support strategies plans, working collaboratively with curriculum-based colleagues. Keeping accurate records is essential.
Knowledge of Education Health Plans and the procedure associated with gathering information for annual review meetings is desirable.
Ideally you will be educated to at least Level 3 and have already worked with 16 to 19 year olds/or adults with a wide range of learning difficulties and disabilities.
An understanding of the specific educational needs and potential barriers to learning for students with an FE setting is a desirable but a proven enthusiasm for this area of work is essential for this exciting opportunity.
The working hours are Monday – Friday, 37 hours per week.
