We are actively seeking SEMH School Support Workers/ Behaviour Mentors in the Stevenage area. We supply a SEMH unit within a school in the Stevenage area. We require full-time SEMH support workers/ Behaviour Mentors/ Challenging Behaviour Teaching Assistants who are passionate, enthusiastic and dedicated to supporting children with challenging behaviour, special needs, mental health or need additional emotional support. This unit deals with children with moderate and severe needs. There may also be speech, language and communication difficulties. Applicants must be willing to work with children and young adults who may have MLD/SLD/ASD (Moderate Learning Difficulties/ Severe Learning Difficulties/ Autistic Spectrum) as well as mental health and emotional needs. They must also have relevant and previous experience working with challenging behaviour-supporting children or adults. This role is a full-time (5 full days) role long term (ongoing) in a school working 8.30 am till 3.30 pm. This could lead to a permanent role. Must have: Experience with Challenging children (SEND, SEMH, CB or EBD) Want a full-time work position A calm, caring, considerate, compassionate manner and be very patient. An understanding of challenging behaviour and safeguarding Child and adult DBS check on update service or willing to complete a new one Excellent knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of current legislation Eligibility to work in the UK. Typical duties of a Behaviour Mentor: Attend to the pupils' personal needs and suggest or implement related programmes Supervise and support pupils in access to learning Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Support Plans, Individual Behaviour Plans and Personal Care programmes. Provide feedback to pupils concerning progress and achievement under the guidance of a teacher. Provide detailed and regular feedback to teachers on pupils' achievements, progress and problems. Working directly with individuals or groups to raise the self-esteem and confidence of pupils with a view to improving their personal and social skills. Monitoring progress in improving behaviour. Strong behaviour management techniques.
