Location: Wilmslow, Cheshire Contract Type: Full-time Permanent Hours: 40 hours per week Salary: M1 UPS2 We have an exciting opportunity for a Primary Teacher / SEN Teacher to join a brand new school opening in February 2023 in Wilmslow with a proposed capacity of 50 students teaching classes of no more than 7. This will be a brand new independent specialist school for young people aged 5 to 19, who face difficulties as a result of complex communication needs typically associated with Autism Spectrum Conditions. We will be offering a broad curriculum across all key stages leading to Entry /Functional and where possible GCSE qualifications. There will be a clear focus on developing skills for life to improve social skills, personal development and employability. You will be supported by an experienced senior leadership team to deliver personalised, exciting lessons and learning opportunities. You will put the pupil at the centre of your planning. The Role: We are looking to appoint someone with experience of delivering outcomes for young people who are of primary or secondary age but working two or three years below age related expectations. Experience of teaching to identify of gaps in curriculum knowledge, building student confidence and positive supportive relationships would be advantageous. As a Class Teacher, your role will be to provide high quality teaching that will enable pupils to make progress not just academically, but socially and emotionally. You must be creative and have high expectations. An understanding of ASC would be useful to support the planning and delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum to enable our pupils to achieve their full potential in all areas. Skills and Qualifications Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate: Qualified Teacher status Experience of KS1/3 or Primary Teacher experience Experience in achieving outstanding outcomes Thorough working knowledge of the curriculum and how to adapt this for pupils with SEN Experience of working with young people with ASD Understanding of the Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures Ability to create and maintain strong nurturing relationships with young people Experience of managing a range of approaches to learning, to include the students with anxiety. Knowledge of strategies and visual teaching methods to engage reluctant learners.
