Cover Manager in a secondary school

  • Job Type: Temporary to Permanent (12 weeks)
  • Salary: Competitive £100-£130 per day depending on experience
  • Start Date: Immediate

We are seeking a highly organised and experienced Cover Manager for a secondary school. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the supply needs of the school and will also undertake cover supervision duties. This is a temporary position with the potential to become permanent after 12 weeks, and an immediate start is available for the right candidate (DBS and referencing pending).

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Coordinate and manage the daily supply cover for teaching staff absences.
  • Supervise classes during the absence of teachers, ensuring that pre-set work is completed and managing classroom behaviour.
  • Maintain accurate records of cover lessons and supply teacher feedback.
  • Liaise with supply agencies to arrange cover, negotiating rates and managing the supply budget.
  • Develop and implement efficient systems for cover management within the school.
  • Communicate effectively with staff, supply teachers, and students to ensure smooth operation of the cover system.
  • Provide administrative support to the school's senior leadership team as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in cover supervision within a secondary school environment.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Experience in managing budgets and negotiating with external agencies.
  • A current DBS on the update service is essential, although this can be applied for via REED if necessary.
