Tradewind Recruitment is currently looking for enthusiastic and committed people available to work as a behaviour support assistant in an SEMH school in Tameside.
This is a temporary full-time long-term supply role from September 2024 to December 2024 in the first instance.
The Role
Behaviour Support Assistant
Five days a week 8.30am to 3.30pm
Providing support on a one-to-one basis or in small groups
Assisting students with literacy, numeracy, and general subject knowledge
Supporting individuals with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties
Assisting those with mental health needs and anxiety
Provide holistic support based around social, emotional, behavioural, physical, mental & academic progress.
Collaborating with the SEN team, senior leaders, heads of departments, parents and carers, social workers, and other professionals in the child's multidisciplinary team.
The School
Pupil Referral Unit catering for young people aged 5-16.
The school provides short- and long-term placements for pupils who have been excluded from mainstream education.
Many students struggle within mainstream education settings and have an EHCP for Social, Emotional or Mental Health needs (SEMH).
Many students who attend are Looked After Children in the care system.
Ofsted 2022 "Pupils told inspectors that teachers at the school help them to get back into learning and improve their behaviour and attitudes. Pupils know that leaders and other staff expect them to do their best and to follow the school's guidance about behaviour. Consequently, most pupils succeed in gaining useful qualifications or rejoining mainstream schools to continue their education."
