Hackney Community College and Tower Hamlets College are both part of the New City College group, formed by the merger of Hackney, Tower Hamlets and Redbridge colleges. Being part of the New City College group means shared resources and expertise, greater financial stability and increased opportunity for students, staff and our local communities.

Both campuses of New City College are exciting, vibrant and multicultural Further Education environments in East London. It takes a lot of talented staff to make an organisation like ours successful.

We have two exciting opportunities for new Senior Curriculum Managers to join our teams and lead our provision for students with learning difficulties and disabilities.

For the SEND post, based at the Hackney campus, you will be managing a large provision of students with a variety of SEND needs, including autism and PMLD, you will drive forward quality improvement with the curriculum and teaching, learning and assessment, as well as manage a team of specialist teachers. Working closely and in partnership with local employers and voluntary organisations you will support the department in their interactions and in developing curriculum programs based on student needs.

For the ALS post, based at the Tower Hamlets campus, you will be managing a large department providing additional learning support for students across all curriculum areas including the specialist provision and High Needs Students. You will manage all aspects of support including funding and liaising with local authorities and partnerships.

The new post holders will have extensive experience of managing provision or support for students with a wide range of learning difficulties and demonstrate a commitment to further developing the four strands of the curriculum for preparing for adulthood and extending the curriculum into the local community. We are proud that our learners are wholly integrated into college life and the new post-holder will ensure that our learners experience a rich and varied college experience and attain skills to support them on their path after they leave the college.

Our successful candidates will be inspirational managers and committed to changing lives through learning. You will evidence this by teaching 8-10 hours per week and will encourage creative and innovative thinking amongst your teams and learners and the ability to inspire and influence internal and external relationships.

This is an exciting time to be joining the college, if you would like to be part of a culture which promotes lifelong learning and embraces innovation and creativity then get in touch!

For an informal discussion about the post please contact Natalie Gee on 0207 034 2632 or email
