Barking & Dagenham College is a vibrant and highly successful College in East London with circa 12,500 students, circa 500 established staff and a turnover of £35m. The College offers routes into learning from entry level through to MBA level, including apprenticeships, higher level apprentices, higher education and job centre plus clients. We have technical specialist areas from level 3 and above with a broad based curriculum up to level 2.

The College trains circa 850 apprentices, including circa 110 higher level apprenticeships and delivers work place training, traineeships and higher level technical and professional specialisms in our strategic vocational areas; Advanced Engineering, Construction and Infrastructure; Creative, Digital & IT; Health, Care and Applied Science and Professional and Educational Services across the pan London occupational sectors.

BDC is an award winning college, known for its innovative approaches to its curriculum offer and delivery of provision. A number of exciting developments are underway and this post is key to the college realising its vision of being known as a lead provider of STEAM aligned to the changing digital economy

This is a new strategic role which will be responsible for leading the development of a modern advanced and higher skills curriculum within STEAM sectors. 

The post holder will partner with industry to lead the facilitation of technology rich teaching and learning through collaborative curricular innovation. The college’s capital build project (The Centre for Advanced Technologies) will provide opportunities to expand the use of research and development to enhance student’s progression and employability skills.       

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of developing curriculum in response to industry and an excellent understanding of how technology can be used to innovate the offer and delivery. You will also have demonstrable success of developing relationships with employers, community and other key stakeholders.
